Ms. A. Kennerly

Principal 

Ms. Kennerly has been a Blue Bear for over 35 years!  She is a graduate of Port Colborne High School and she is also a former Port High teacher.  

After graduating from Port High, she attended McMaster University to study English and Political Science. After graduation, she attended Université Laval in Québec to study French and was hired from there to work on Parliament Hill in Ottawa for the then Minister of Communications, The Honourable Flora MacDonald. When the Berlin Wall fell in November 1989, Ms. Kennerly left her job in Ottawa to teach English in Poland and to travel in the former Eastern Bloc countries. 

She then returned to the Niagara area to attend teacher’s college at Brock. After graduation, she again left Canada to teach English abroad in Hong Kong for three years. Ms. Kennerly then returned to Port Colborne from Hong Kong to accept a teaching job at Port Colborne High School and she has been an teacher and administrator for DSBN ever since. Most recently, Ms. Kennerly completed her PhD in Cognition and Learning through Brock University. 

Dr. Kennerly now lives in Port Colborne with her son and her daughter, and with their dog and two cats. In her spare time, Dr. Kennerly enjoys cycling, gardening, reading, and traveling with her children.
