2 PCHS Students nominated for PC Youth Citizen of the year

The top citizen achievers in the community will be honoured Wednesday



Awards night for Port Colborne–Wainfleet Chamber of Commerce is almost here.

The top business and citizen achievers in the community will be honoured next week at the chamber’s annual President’s Awards.

The event will be held Wednesday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre on Bell St., Port Colborne.

Tickets are $45 a person and are available from the chamber office at 905-834-9765 or by e-mail at office@pcwchamber.com.

Tickets won’t be available at the door.

Following are the nominees:

Youth Citizen of the Year

Rachel Roy is active in school life at Port Colborne High School. She is a leader in the Youth 2 Youth peer mentor program. She is also a member of student council and is active in several other extracurricular activities. Roy has been the president of the young women organization in her church for two years. She is a leader at the church’s girls’ youth camp. She is often called upon to speak at rallies and functions through the church. 

Sephra Ruston is one of the leaders in the Youth 2 Youth peer mentor program at Port Colborne High School. She has been a valued member of the girls basketball and soccer teams at the school. Ruston also volunteers in the community. She is a tutor for an individual with Down syndrome and has been a coach in the Port Colborne youth basketball and Sir John Colborne youth soccer programs.
