For CBC Music's "Canada's Greatest Music Class" Contest

CBC Music, in association with MusiCounts, is searching for Canada's Greatest Music Class! Enter here .

At CBC Music, we know that Canada is jam-packed with musical talent, and we love to showcase it. In an exciting new project, we plan on doing just that, but this time, we want to hear from the music classes.

This is a competition that engages students in traditional music classes, music clubs and after-school programs across the country.

Beginning on Monday, Oct. 26, and closing Monday, Nov. 30, teachers and music program instructors are encouraged to upload a video of their classes performing one of the songs below, specially selected by CBC Music. We ask that submitting classes must feature students up to 17 years old, it must be an original performance (i.e., not a lip synch) and that they also submit their best "rock star" group photo. The contest is officially open as of Oct. 26.
Sign up now and you'll be able to access MP3s and resources to help you cover the song.

Below is the complete list of songs to choose from.

• "1,2,3,4," Feist

• "Life of the Party," Shawn Mendes

• "Hey Kids," Arkells

• "Lève les voiles," Cœur de Pirate

• "Qui Sait," Daniel Lavoie

• "Stompa," Serena Ryder

• "Beautiful," Carly Rae Jepsen feat. Justin Bieber

• "Crabbuckit," K-OS

• "Sonny's Dream," Ron Hynes

• "Bow and Arrow," Reuben and the Dark

• "If I had a Million Dollars," Barenaked Ladies

Imagine hearing "Crabbuckit" thrown down by a ukulele club, "Life of the Party" belted out by a choir or "Stompa" recreated with the smooth sway of a jazz band. This is your chance to make some great Canadian songs your own.

The submissions will be evaluated by a panel of musicians, CBC Music journalists and MusiCounts staff. The winner will be announced on Radio 2 Morning with Tom Power on Dec. 4.

The winner of Canada’s Greatest Music Class 2015 will get an assembly concert performance by a top Canadian musical artist for the entire student body as well as a commemorative plaque.

Schools vying to say they have Canada’s Greatest Music Class also have the opportunity to apply for new musical instruments and equipment through MusiCounts’ Band Aid Program. Through this program, MusiCounts provides musical instruments in $5,000 and $10,000 value allotments to support public (elementary, secondary & separate) schools across Canada. Visit www.musicounts.ca to apply.
