The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their President’s Awards Celebration at the Roselawn Centre on April 1st from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. As part of this special event, the chamber will once again be recognizing outstanding contributions within our Port Colborne - Wainfleet communities through awards in business, community service, and youth leadership.

When we read the criteria for the youth leadership award, we knew right away that Ashlyn Donohue was an ideal candidate. Ashlyn is a quiet leader who is very involved in our school community.  At lunch, Ashyln can often be found volunteering in our cafeteria where she shares her passion, enthusiasm and curiosity. Ashlyn consistently guides and supports her peers and always offers to volunteer for extracurricular culinary events. After school, Ashlyn is involved in school sports as a score keeper for both basketball and Volleyball. Her vibrant personality and big smile are always a welcome to all who enter the gym. She is very responsible and reliable, always making sure that she is at the games. When short handed, she is more than capable of taking care of all aspects of the score keeping duties herself, but there are several students who are willing to help Ashlyn, which is a tribute to her leadership and warm personality. Ashlyn also steps up to help with the gym set up and take down before and after the games. Overall, Ashlyn is a huge asset to the Port Colborne High School community. She exemplifies what it is to “Be a Blue Bear” and when she graduates will leave big shoes to fill.
