Track & Field Zone Results

The Port High Track team completed a very successful Zone 3 competition on May 15th at West Park Secondary School.

Once again, the team’s strongest event was the discus throw. A Port High athlete was able to finish 2nd or better in five of the six discus competitions that were held. Jazmin Kikert-Libeau and Nicole Vanatter went 1-2 and finished well above the rest of the field in the jr girls competition. Zack Kreuger had a tremendous day by throwing a 5 meter personal best to finish 2nd in the Jr boys competition. The midget boys group which consisted of Lucas "Lou-Mann" Klattenburg, Ryley Boisvenue and Tyler Dickerson finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th , with Lucas nearly winning the competition. Midget girl Aaren Read missed out on a zone championship by mere centimetres and finished second in her first zone championship. Veteran Ilyssa Boisvenue also had a very good day by taking home three second place finishes in the sr girl discus, javelin and Shot put.

Other strong points of the day were Troy Terrreberry and Luck Mann-Klattenburg placing 3rd and 4th in the midget boys javelin throw, Korie Fuller taking 3rd in the Jr Girls 100m, Curtis Avery finishing 3rd in the Midget boys 800, the Jr girls Relay team placing 3rd (consisting of Sephra Ruston, Olivia Carr, Hannah Sonnenburg and Korie Fuller), and also Jakob Roy placing 4th in the Jr boys Pole Vault. Team scores were not available yet at this time but will be announced in time for tomorrow morning’s morning announcements. Great job Bears!

The team’s next competition is next Thursday when they take on the rest of Southern Ontario at the SOSSA championships.
