The Port High Blue Bears defeated the Westlane Spartans by a score of 6-3 to open their high school hockey season at the Westside arena in Port Colborne on Thursday. Westlane jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Port found their stride and took control of the game. Corey Coers had a pair of goals to go with 2 assists. Riley Boisvenue and Brandon Tworyczuck had a goal and assist each. Grade 9 players Owen Benner and David Schulz rounded out the scoring for the Bears. Brody Ostermaier was solid between the pipes after surrendering 2 early on.
