For the past 6 years, PCHS Track & Field throwers have had the privilege of learning from one of the best coaches in the province. I'm sure you have heard of the "Horse Whisperer" ....well Mr. Adamek just may be the "throwing whisperer".
Student athlete Ryan Dendy is proof of the impact that a good coach can have. Ryan is a late starter compared to many of his throwing competitors. His inexperience did not stop him from recently winning the OFSAA South Regional Shot Put last week in the Sr. Boys division. Dendy is currently ranked 10th in the Province and will compete in the Ontario finals on June 4th in Windsor. Ryan credits much of his success to his coach and mentor.
Coach Adamek would know a thing or two about winning at OFSAA. He earned an OFSAA Gold medal shot put and also a bronze medal discus. He still holds the DSBN zone 3 record in Jr. Boys in Shot Put.
Mr Adamek is a Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School graduate that went to Eastern Michigan University on a full Track & Field scholarship and was one of the best discus and shot put throwers the school has ever produced. He was a 6 time Mid-American Conference Champion. At one time, held EMU records in shot put, discus, and weight throw. Coach Adamek continues to hold shot put record at Eastern Michigan University, a distance of 18.96m. He was the MVP of the Mid American Conference Indoor Meet in his 3rd year of University.
At the 2007 RBC Canadian Track and Field Championships, Mr. Adamek finished 2nd in the shot put event behind future Olympic Bronze Medalist Dylan Armstrong.
