Pictured above are Dillon Smith and Ethan Scott who competed against 24 other teams in the Culinary Skills Competition held at the Niagara College Culinary Institute. The teams were required to cook two main courses and two deserts (exactly the same). The main course consisted of: Meatloaf, braised cabbage, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes.
They were judged on these plates along with their technique, presentation and taste.
Ethan has had the opportunity to fine tune his skills in the kitchen while on co-op placement at Canalside Restaurant on West Street in Port Colborne.
The PCHS hairstyling and aesthetics class took 3 students to compete in the DSBN Skills Challenge. Kaitlyn Herrington, Kelsey Farnan and Shelby Ruzylo all competed with class and style but unfortunately did not place in the medal standings. The competition included a short hair women's trendy style, a men's bombage cut and style, and an evening updo style. The girls worked very hard getting their mannequin heads ready prior to the competition by colouring them and practicing for weeks in advance. Congratulations ladies for a job well done!
