Petty Officer Aaron Olm of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 125 Renown in Port Colborne, left, helps to accept the Philip C. Gainham Memorial Award from Philip Gainham (nephew of the namesake) and Jim Green.  He received the award because of his dedication to the community. Over the year the he and the cadets participated in 27 community events, including the FINA World Junior Open-Water Swim Championships, Santa Claus parades in Welland, Fort Erie and Port Colborne, rowing competitions and much more.

The award is named after Philip Gainham whom died of spinal cancer at the age of 23. He was an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy and an air cadet in Niagara as a child.
